Our international client are looking for a Development Engineer to be part of an established, fast paced, and dynamic Engineering team and who will support Research & Development and the transition of new products into Production. You will help to develop innovative ideas, produce new processes, conduct experimental work, testing and work instructions. You will also be required to investigate Product improvements and find solutions to Production assembly issues when they arise. You will help to support Project Engineering, Sales, Service and Production as well as working closely with senior management.

You will source and consult with suppliers of purchased components for development activities. You will also manage multiple development projects, including tasks allocated to you, and you will be expected to deliver these within a set timeframe.

Responsibilities and Duties:

All work conducted must align with the Product Development gated process to deliver key Development deliverables at each stage.
To collate data and convert into technical documentation that compliments development activities.
Undertake validation and verification tasks.
Deriving protocols documentation.
Deriving test scripts documentation.
Generate final reports.
Work closely with the Project Engineering/design team whilst using key “Design for Manufacture” and assembly principles.
To support with FMEA’s as part of Product Development process that mitigates potential weak areas of Design.
Support prototype manufacture.
Engage in the handover of new products to Project Engineering to facilitate introduction to Production. This may include Production documentation and training.
To support Production to solve problems/issues related to post product development.
To support Customer service /sales through technical advice.

Mandatory requirements:

Experience and understanding of Product Development Lifecycle.
Experience in setting up test apparatus and conducting testing.
To keep abreast of technological advancement through published literature and study.
To advise management of potential project slippage or technical problems but with solutions to mitigate further impact or to bring back on track.
Ability to work as part of a multifunctional engineering team and support where needed.

Desirable requirements:

Experience of working in a small to medium sized company.
Experience in Project Management.
Min of 5 years’ experience & knowledge in:
Electromechanical, fluid systems & pneumatics.
Electrical.
Microprocessors & Programming.
Experience working within a regulated industry preferable.
Experience in Solidworks CAD software.
Knowledge of EMC and Safety compliance testing.
Experience in operating equipment in machine shop.
Experience with MRP systems
Experience with Change Notes
